My Vyond Video work sample

Sample original video content I was hired and paid to create for the Self Advocacy Learning (SAL) program at Humber:



This video series consists of four shorts of two to four minutes each, was created by me from scratch based on my own thoughts, insights, observations and experiences of living and working in sustained employment with lifelong visible disabilities and neurodivergence. My intent was to build a mindset for self advocacy from a disability perspective, by telling the story of how, in my experience, people with disabilities (both visible and invisible) like myself, tend to respond to the realization that the world as it is today remains less than accessible for many of us.


The videos dive into how we can unravel the internalized shame and fear we feel, by adopting a different narrative - one that is inclusive of the strengths we gain from our disabilities. A narrative that is built on the ability to practice reframing our challenging experiences, developing our ability to regulate our emotions and own who we are, by acknowledging and expressing our access needs with dignity and poise. And how practising all of these various skill sets culminate in the understanding that employers are looking for and ready to employ people who have learned to self advocate.


I wrote the scripts, designed the visuals, and created the disability characters based on what was available in Vyond Studio. I used Vyond’s animation capabilities, along with their copyright clear music tracks, and AI narration tools, to full advantage. However, I do not use and will never apply AI generated story ideas, visuals, and scripts, as that goes against every fibre of my being as an artist and a human being.


Many thanks and kudos to Elaine Belanger-Porter, Student Success Advisor at Humber Polyechnic, who hired me to consult on program content and to do this work. It is uncommon to be solicited for expertise rooted in disability lived experience and yet such expertise is key to the success of the SAL program. Elaine supported my creative work by allowing me autonomy combined with well considered and timely reviews that allowed me to deliver excellence ahead of deadline. I’m honoured to have partnered with Elaine to bring the core principles of the SAL to life. Thank you too to Dimple Rai, Associate Director, Advising and Career Services, Humber Polytechnic, for championing this important work.


The video series is licensed for commercial use as part of the coursework available internally to Humber students with disabilities as part of the Transition to Work (TTW) program. Descriptive text for visually impared audiences has been added to the videos available internally at Humber, as I did not have capacity to provide that. However, I as content creator and copyright holder, have the right to share this video series as a work sample for prospective contract employment and have cleared this with Humber Polytechnic.
