Very proud to announce that I have recently joined the board of Active Abilities Canada, a tremendous organization! I’ve had cerebral palsy since birth and over the past couple of years I’ve learned that if I want to keep walking, I’ve got to keep moving. Exercise, walking in nature, swimming, using the gym, going for physio - up to 2 hours daily is priority.
And I can’t do all of that without access to a supportive community of people and accessible spaces who can help me make it happen! The mission of Active Abilities Canada is to work with organizations all across Canada to ensure that people with disabilities like me, are not merely encouraged, but welcomed and enabled at all ages and fitness levels to participate fully in sport and recreational activities. One of Active Abilities Canada’s most significant contributions to date is the all new and much needed Municipal Guide, in addition to a full complement of other resources!
